The Pali village, located between Fort Sarasgarh and River Amba in Raigad district, is home to this famous temple. One of the eight divine ashtavinayak (eight Ganeshas) temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it is known for the unique idol of the god sitting on a stone throne facing east while his trunk is turned towards the left. There are three diamonds on the idol – two for the eyes and one on the navel. The idol sits against a backdrop of silver, with the lord's consorts, Riddhi and Siddhi, waving chamaras (fan-like articles). The temple also boasts a giant bell made of metal that the military commander of the Maratha empire Chimaji Appa, it is said, brought after he defeated the Portuguese at Vasai. A grand 15-ft-high sanctum adds to the beauty of the temple structure. The present temple is said to have been constructed by Shri Phadnis of Moradabad.
