Attraction
Also known as the Karmaa Dorjee Chyoling monastery, Bhutia Busty monastery is located at Bhutia Busty (Bhutia colony) in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It belongs to the Red Sect of Buddhist lamas. Originally a branch of the Nyingmapa sect’s Phodang monastery in Sikkim, it was built by lama Dorje Rinzing, and later transferred to Darjeeling in 1879, it was built in 1761 by lama Dorje Rinzing, and later transferred to Darjeeling in 1879. Said to be among the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling, it has seen changes in its physical appearance and also location. The monastery has a collection of old Buddhist scripts. One of the original pieces of the Book of the Dead is its prized possession.

Ghoom Monastery
The Yiga Choeling monastery, which is popularly known as the Ghoom monastery — a name it has earned owing to its location in Ghoom — is the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery to have been built in Darjeeling.
Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda
The two-storey white Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist temple in West Bengal’s Darjeeling town was built in 1972 in traditional Japanese style. Inside the temple, there is picture of Fujii Guruji, the founder and preceptor of Nipponzan Myohoji, a Buddhist order for world peace.
Key Monastery
One of the oldest and largest monasteries in the valley, it is also a centre for Buddhism studies.
