Attraction

Also known as the Karmaa Dorjee Chyoling monastery, Bhutia Busty monastery is located at Bhutia Busty (Bhutia colony) in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It belongs to the Red Sect of Buddhist lamas. Originally a branch of the Nyingmapa sect’s Phodang monastery in Sikkim, it was built by lama Dorje Rinzing, and later transferred to Darjeeling in 1879, it was built in 1761 by lama Dorje Rinzing, and later transferred to Darjeeling in 1879. Said to be among the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling, it has seen changes in its physical appearance and also location. The monastery has a collection of old Buddhist scripts. One of the original pieces of the Book of the Dead is its prized possession.
The nearest major city from here is Darjeeling, 2 km away.
