AN ARCHEOLOGICAL DELIGHT

DALMADAL CANON

In 1742, during the reign of Raja Gopal Singh, Dalmadal Canon was used to repulse the troops of Maratha leader, Bhaskar Pundit, in order to protect Bishnupur (Vishnupur) when the Bargis (Maratha warriors) attacked from the west. Its 3.8 meters long cannon has a barrel with a diameter of 28.5 cm and makes for a major tourist attraction.
