Devi Talab Temple is one of the 51 Shakti peeths in India associated with Maa Sati. It is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Mata Tripurmalini Mandir is situated within the temple premises. It is said that when Maa Sati sacrificed herself after her own father, Daksha insulted Lord Shiva, he then opened his third eye in anguish and performed tandav dance with (Sati) his wife's body in his arms. Feeling scared of Lord Shiva's anger and to save the Universe, Lord Vishnu visited Earth and throw the body to Earth in pieces, each of the portions of the Earth that received these pieces were blessed and honoured and are known as Shakti Peeths. Mata Tripurmalini Mandir marks the spots that received Maa Sati's right breast. There is a huge tank (called talab in Hindi), of older times in the Temple which gave it the name of Devi Talab Mandir. Recently there a Temple dedicated to goddess Kali and a replica of Amarnath Cave Temple has been added to the Temple Complex. This temple is very popular among the devotees and thousands visit annually.
