SIROI HILLS

Siroi Hill is located in the Shiri- Kashong range. The area is known to be inhabited by many endangered bird species. In fact the Nongyin (Mrs. Hume's bar-packed pheasant) is Manipur's state bird. The state flower of Manipur, Siroy Lily, also called Shirui Lily (Lilium Macklinae) is a rare pinkish white flower found only in the Siroy Hill Range in the Ukhrul District of Manipur for a few months from mid-May every year. The Royal Horticultural Society, one of the world's leading horticultural organizations honoured the Siroy Lily with its prestigious merit award at its Flower Show in London in 1948.
