Mekedatu

MEKEDATU

At Mekedaatu, the Kaveri runs through a deep, narrow ravine of hard granite rock. The river, which is more than 150 meters wide at the Sangam, flows through the hardly 10-meter-wide gorge at Mekedatu. It is a very popular tourist place. Mekedatu is a quiet place to go for a day's outing. At Sangam, where the rivers Cauvery and Arkavati meet, there is a Sangameswara Temple.
