KAMLASAGAR KALI TEMPLE

The Kamlasagar Kali Temple, 27 kms from Agartala is located on a hillock overlooking a beautiful lake named Kamala Sagar. The lake bordering Bangladesh offers wonderful views of its surroundings and is often flocked by the local people for picnic. This huge lake was developed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the late 15th century.

The Kamalasagar Kali temple houses an image of the goddess that looks like that of Dasabhuja Durga or Mahishasurmardini. The image is made of sandstone which is worshipped as Ma Kali. There is a Shivlangam present at the feet of the image, giving the temple its name Kalibari. Devotees flock to this temple in large numbers especially during festivals.
