Situated at an elevation of 2,650 m, Janki Chatti is widely popular for its hot water springs. It is surrounded by towering mountains on all sides and lies close to the Indo-China border. The place also acts as a starting point for the pilgrimage to Yamunotri. Earlier, the starting point used to be Hanuman Chatti, but now cars are available at Janki Chatti as well, shortening the distance by 7 km. A large number of visitors can be seen here during the months of May through October. This unique place of devotion and relaxation makes for an attractive tourist stopover. Moreover, visitors can indulge in some local Garhwali and Kumaoni cuisine and try delectable dishes like aloo ke ghutke (a potato-based dish), chainsoo (lentil-based dish), gahat (lentil-based dish) etc.
