The various points providing scenic views can either be reached by foot, in a car or on horseback. The last option is much more charming and fun. The pristine Venna Lake and Table Land in Panchgani are all excellent spots for this activity. Horse riding offers a unique view of Mahabaleshwar, while also affording the opportunity to interact with and feed the gentle creatures. There are several horse riding schools in the area that help visitors get the hang of riding. Many resorts in Mahabaleshwar have also tied up with horse owners to be able to easily provide guests this facility. If you are an experienced horse rider, you can even explore the lesser-known alleys and avenues by yourself.

The backwater of the Koyna Dam, Tapola Lake is a good site for boating. As is the pretty Venna Lake surrounded by trees on all sides. The lush greenery and blue waters combine to make for a relaxed experience at both these lakes. Boating is quite enjoyable and guests can also see a spectacular sunset while watching native birds glide over the glassy surface of the lake. You can take some lovely pictures of the lake and the abounding greenery. Venna seems to come alive in the evenings, with birds diving in and out of the water.
