Located around 130 km from Kasauli, and at a height of 2,708 m above sea level, Narkanda is an ideal tourist retreat, offering picturesque views of the surrounding snow-clad mountains. During winters, when the land freezes over, it becomes a skiing hub. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation organises short skiing courses for visitors. Tourists can also visit the Hatu Mata Temple, also a well-known skiing location, on Hatu Peak, which is surrounded by spruce and pine trees.

The best time to visit Narkanda is during autumn when the weather is not too cold. The nearby Hatu Peak offers a better view and is higher than Narkanda. It is also popularly known as the gateway to the apple country of Himachal Pradesh.
