From visiting misty waterfalls to enjoying nature at fun parks, here's all you can do in Jabalpur.

Food and cuisine

From street food to local dishes, there is a long culinary trail you can take in Jabalpur. Bhutte-ki-kees is among the most popular dishes, and is made of grated corn which is cooked with spices and then simmered in milk. Jalebi is a favourite among those who have a sweet tooth. In Jabalpur, it is prepared and savoured with much attention to detail. A batter of all-purpose flour is deep-fried and then dipped in sugar syrup. The resulting sweet dish is crunchy and delicious.

Dumna Nature Park

Located just 10 km from the city of Jabalpur, the Dumna Nature Park is an eco-tourism spot. It is home to a wide variety of wild animals, including jackal, spotted deer, leopard, wild boar and porcupine. The park also hosts a number of migratory birds during winters, and thus invites birdwatchers from across the region. It has been developed as a family stopover, with an entertaining children's park, a restaurant and a fishing platform. Tracks for cycling and walking have been designated here, enabling visitors to enjoy a spurt of physical exercise if they so wish. There is also a toy train service, which is quite popular with kids. The nature park also includes the Khandari water reservoir, which is as picturesque as it is soothing.

Tilwara ghat

Located on the banks of the holy Narmada river, Tilwara Ghat is as serene as it is holy. The Tilwadeshwar Mandir, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located on the ghat and is a must-visit. The ghat is one of the locations where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed.

Dhuandhar Waterfalls

River Narmada falling from a majestic height of 98 ft forms the Dhuandhar Waterfalls. The word ‘dhuan’ translates into smoke and the river falls on rocks with such force and from such a height that the mist created is almost like a smokescreen. The view is surreal and the experience unforgettable. There are marble rocks nearby and boating facilities are also available for those who wish to soak in the mist of the waterfall. The falls can be enjoyed from Bedhaghat side from where one can avail the beautiful view of the river flowing through the marble rocks. A trip to the falls can be combined with a visit to the Narmada Mahotsav.
