A Dip In River

Taking a dip in the holy Ganga river is believed to absolve one of all their sins. It is believed that an average of one billion people take a dip in the Ganga every year. You can also visit the Vishnu Ghat for the same, which has been named after Lord Vishnu as it is believed that he took a bath at this spot. A special bathing ceremony is held here every 12 years when the Kumbh Mela is organised. It is believed that those who bathe in the holy waters of the river at this time attain salvation.

Ganga Arti

Attend this grand prayer ceremony in which the Ganga river is worshipped as the mother who provides water to millions of people every day. This religious prayer takes place at the banks of the river at Har Ki Pauri Ghat. One can see priests performing prayers with three-tiered lamps with gongs and sounds of mantras reverberating in the background. Devotees and visitors float diyas (small candles) on the river and the sight is spectacular. The arti is an hour long ritual that begins from 6 pm and ends at 7 pm. In the morning, it starts from 5:30 am and ends at 6:30 am.
