Kamadgiri is a verdant, lush hill that is known as the heart of Chitrakoot. It is also known as the original Chitrakoot, and is believed to be the abode of Goddess Sita, Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmana. There are several temples which lay on the 5-km-path of the parikrama. On this path pilgrims perform a ritual circumambulation of the hill for divine blessings. One of the most important temples is Shri Kamatanath. As devotees make their way around the hill, they sing hymns and chant, as the fragrance of incense permeates the air, lending an otherworldly feel to the ritual.

Visitors are recommended to finish their parikrama in the morning, as the afternoon can get quite hot, making the journey uncomfortable. If you get hungry, there are plenty of shops selling all kinds of snacks along the way.
