Located at the heart of the walled city, Sadar Manzil is a royal building that used to be the hall of public audience for the rulers of Bhopal. The monument is set amidst picturesque and well-laid out gardens and reflects Oriental traces of architecture. Legend has it that the nawabs of the city would meet with the masses here, and address them on important occasions. After Independence, the lovely building was abandoned and fell into ruin for some time before being restored. However, the charm of the Sadar Manzil has withstood the test of time, and even today one can see intricate carvings in the ceilings and archways that hint at its former grandeur and opulence. It’s a must-visit for lovers of history, and has some great spots for photography as well. Sadar Manzil lies in close proximity to the beautiful Shaukat Mahal.
