Sights to See

The fort of Darbhanga Raj, Rambag Palace, Nargauna Palace and the two palatial buildings donated by the Darbhanga Raja for housing the offices of L. N. Mithila University and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University are worth seeing.The wall surrounding the Raj fort is 200 ft. high.

Religious Places
There's a Goddess Shyama Temple,which is built on the pyre of Maharaja Dhiraj Rameshwar Singh. The temple houses a statue of Goddess Kali,which was built in Jaipur of stones imported from France. There's also a Goddess Kankali Temple built of Italian marbles and French stones.

Ahilya Sthan
It is a tourist place in village Ahiyari under the Jale block of this district, 20 km from Darbhanga town. The legend has it that Ahilya was wife of great saint Gautam wife. She was cursed to become a stone statue, but was brought back to life after Lord Rama,who happened to pass through the village, touched the statue.

There are three big ponds in the area Harahi,Dighi and Gangasagar. Harahi and Dighi, having boating facilities, are major tourist attractions.

Baba Kusheshwar Dham
Some 60 km from the district HQ, Baba Kusheshwar Dham has a temple of Lord Shiva, revered locally as Lord Kusheshwar. Thousands of devotees visit the temple throughout the year.
