Newly-wed women in their first matrimonial year observe this festival in the sacred month of Sawan (July-August). They also pray for long life of their husbands.
It is celebrated in the house of newly-wed men on the full-moon day in Ashwin (September- October) month.
Indra, the mythical king of gods and controller of - clouds, is worshipped for five days in the middle of September and prayers are offered for rain. An Indra Bhawan, constructed by Maharaja Rameshwar Singh, is located in the local Raj ground, where the rain god is worshipped every year.
This traditional festival is celebrated by local women folk when there is scarcity of rain. Sometimes rail follows the dancing, singing and praying.
