Chitrakote is situated 38 km from Jagdalpur, the district centre of Bastar district in the state of Chhattisgarh, at a distance of 340 km from Raipur, the state capital, and 350 km from Visakhapattanam in Andhra Pradesh state.

BY AIR: The nearest airports are at Raipur in the North and Vishakhapatnam in the east. Raipur has daily connectivity to/from major gateways in the country.

BY ROAD: The excellent road linking Bastar passes through verdant forestland. From Raipur, take the state government operated buses or hire a taxi for Jagdalpur (295 kms). From Jagdalpur to Chitrakote, it is 38 kms by bus or taxi.

BY TRAIN: Jagdalpur is linked to Vishakhapatnam by a broad gauge electrified railway. The passenger train is fitted with a sleeper coach. The train passes through breath taking Ghats and tunnels. Araku and Semiliguda, the highest broad gauge railway stations in India, fall on the route.
